Synthesis, Characterization and Hydrolysis Study of the Imine and the Hydrazone of p-nitrobenzaldehyde, under Simulated Physiological Conditions
Abstract
Synthesis and characterization of N-(p-nitro benzylidene)-4-hydroxyphenylethylamine (an imine) and N1- (p-nitro benzylidene)-N2-(4-hydroxybenzoyl) hydrazine (a hydrazone) were reported. In this paper we also compared the hydrolytic stability of the imine and the hydrazone. We found that aryl carboxylic acid hydrazone was inert to hydrolysis under simulated physiological conditions (i.e., pH 7.40 and 37 ᵒC) which led to imine bond rupture.
